Thermodynamics of trapped photon gases at dimensional crossover from 2D to 1D

چکیده
Abstract Photon Bose-Einstein condensates are characterised by a quite weak interaction, so they behave nearly as an ideal Bose gas. Moreover, since the current experiments conducted in microcavity, longitudinal motion is frozen out and photon gas represents effectively two-dimensional trapped of massive bosons. In this paper we focus on harmonically confined two dimensions, where anisotropy confinement allows for dimensional crossover. If one direction strong enough that squeezed out, then only degree freedom survives system can be considered to quasi-one dimensional. view experimental set-up work analytically thermodynamic properties such with finite number photons. particular, examining information which contained respective quantities.

Theoretical modeling for quantum liquids from 1d to 2d dimensional crossover using quantum groups
Recent experimental and theoretical work in strongly correlated electron system necessitates a formulation to deal with 1d to 2d dimensional crossover and raises several interesting questions. A particularly interesting question is what happens to the 1d Luttinger liquid, as we go from 1d to 2d? The issue of dimensional crossover in lower dimensional systems is of great general interest, in par...
متن کاملLow - dimensional trapped gases
Recent developments in the physics of ultracold gases provide wide possibilities for reducing the dimensionality of space for magnetically or optically trapped atoms. The goal of these lectures is to show that regimes of quantum degeneracy in two-dimensional (2D) and one-dimensional (1D) trapped gases are drastically different from those in three dimensions and to stimulate an interest in low-d...
متن کاملOne Dimensional(1D)-to-2D Crossover of Spin Correlations in the 3D Magnet ZnMn2O4
We report on the intriguing evolution of the dynamical spin correlations of the frustrated spinel ZnMn2O4. Inelastic neutron scattering and magnetization studies reveal that the dynamical correlations at high temperatures are 1D. At lower temperature, these dynamical correlations become 2D. Surprisingly, the dynamical correlations condense into a quasi 2D Ising-like ordered state, making this a...
متن کاملThree-dimensional critical behavior with 2D, 1D, and 0D dimensionality crossover: surface and edge specific heats.
The critical behavior at a second order phase transition is characterized by the divergence of the correlation length xi. We have studied the superfluid transition of 4He in a series of experimental cells in which this divergence of xi is modified due to finite-size confinement. In particular, the design of these cells is such that the smallest dimension is kept the same, 1 microm, but the geom...
متن کاملDimensionality crossover in magnetism: from domain walls (2D) to vortices (1D).
Dimensionality crossover is a classical topic in physics. Surprisingly, it has not been searched in micromagnetism, which deals with objects such as domain walls (2D) and vortices (1D). We predict by simulation a second-order transition between these two objects, with the wall length as the Landau parameter. This was confirmed experimentally based on micron-sized flux-closure dots.
